Generally, either Gloss OPP or Matt OPP. The properties of good gloss or matt and strength make it particularly suitable for Paper Carrier Bags. |
Often a cellulose acetate film is used to give either a gloss or matt finish. It is very flimsy and tends to crease when applied to the paper. |
| |
Laminates are made with tough flexible films, which protect the ink and paper from damage, particularly at the folds or spines and increases its tear strength. The standard gloss OPP film thickness is 12 micron which adds 30g/m2 to the finished product. Matt OPP is a little thicker at 15 micron. |
Cellulose acetate film will show early signs of cracking/splitting compared with OPP lamination.
U.V. varnishes do not offer any benefits in preventing cracking and damage in creased areas. |

Celloglas, UK market leaders in lamination, state that the best results are always achieved on smooth gloss or satin coated materials. Paper choice is critical in achieving the best results (see notes on our paper page). |
